The world has become so impersonal over the past few years. Kids are becoming progressively more anti-social from the growth of our technology. It was only a few years ago that people used to go out and have conversations and meet new people. Now we all text and use Facebook to expand our networking.
It's not only communications that became less personal, but all aspect of life. We bury our dead, but we also launch flaming bits of metal at them to end their lives. We have relationships, but some of them get started on the inter-web, you can even order food via websites. What happened to the days that we actually had to personally communicate with people? Supposedly we are progressing in life but in the big picture it looks like we are regressing.
On the brighter side of things, texting and the interweb do a positive thing in which a person could be who ever they want to be. It allows people who normally don't talk much and give them the opportunity to have a place were they can vent, they have a way of tell people how they feel in an environment that they may not have to be face to face with the other person. If it wasn't so over used it may even be a good thing. But people have become so heavily dependent on it that it has become very negative.
I have some friends that I have known for years, yet some of them I've never even had a real conversation with. While talking to Miss 18 18 I realized that I've only had about 7 real conversations with her, 8 including last night. One of the things that were brought up is that we could talk to each other all day without having anything real to say (little bits of what is happening to us, moods we are having, ect.) . Looking back on that I think, thats really a beautiful thing that we can do that... but at the same time it's really sad. It's beautiful because we can connect well enough that we don't have to actually say anything, but still enjoy each other; however it's really sad because of the fact that it works. Impersonalities have become so accustomed to our daily life that we literally don't even realize it anymore.
